Charity CEOs’ average compensation nears $150,000

Leaders of nonprofits in the Northeast, and of largest groups, tend to earn higher salaries, according to the Charity Navigator study. The top executives of U.S. charitable nonprofits received a meager average raise of 2.55 percent since last year, earning an average salary of $148,972, according to Charity Navigator’s CEO Compensation Study released Aug. 1. The latest raise is only slightly higher than the average 2.34 percent increase reported in last year’s study.
